Bear Foot Lodge is a 5,000-square-foot post-and-beam chalet in Stockbridge, Vermont. With four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two half baths and room for 12 guests, it is a practical choice for ski groups, family trips and Riverside Farm wedding weekends. Inside the house
The open main floor has a large kitchen with Vermont Verde granite counters, slate floors and stainless appliances. The dining area and living room sit nearby, with a stone fireplace and log mantel at the center of the room. Warm wood, leather furniture and modern artwork give the house a comfortable lodge feel without making it fussy.
Downstairs, the walk-out level has a large recreation room, a second kitchen and another fieldstone fireplace. This level also has a sauna and jetted tub, so there is an easy place to warm up after a winter day outside. Fast WiFi, smart TVs and laundry facilities cover the everyday needs of a full house.
Where everyone sleeps
The four bedrooms are spread through the chalet. One has a king bed. Another has two double beds. A third has four twin beds, and the fourth has a double bed plus a twin. There is also a third-floor treehouse loft that gives kids another place to hang out. Some bunk beds use ladders.
Porch, views and trails
A covered porch wraps around the house, with mountain views, a grill and room to eat outside. Snowmobile, hiking and biking trails can be reached directly from the property. The house also has plenty of parking, which is useful when several guests arrive separately.
